Thumbs up to Simon's Young Guns

On 5th August 2017 FPCC lost a close-fought match against Simon's Young Guns. FPCC batted first posting 175 (Sealy 47no) which the Young Guns surpassed in the 31st over thanks mainly to their mystery guest opener who blasted 91.

This was none other than Ronnie Irani, former Essex and England all-rounder, who was finally dismissed "caught Mikurenda bowled Salisbury", taken very casually by Mark on the deep midwicket boundary, described by umpire Eric Tracey as a "champagne moment".

Club Chairman Eric Tracey presented the "JST" trophy to the winning captain Simon Butler, who spoke of his appreciation and thanks to FPCC for its hospitality and for another good game. He added that he believed SYG were just ahead in the series. The trophy was donated several years ago by his father and club Vice-President Peter Butler in honour of former Fonthill captain Jimmy Street who badly injured his thumb several years ago while taking a catch.
