Golfers brave the elements
Many congratulations to Rupert Murray who kept his iron grip on the FPCCGC annual trophy, winning it for the third year running.
With thick mist and driving rain shrouding visibility and cloaking hope, the conditions were so bad that even Noah would have cried off. Only five hardy golfers turned up at Rushmore Park Golf Club, whereupon John Sealy selflessly volunteered to stand down to reduce the contest to a 4 ball. He was gracious enough to walk around 2 holes, retrieving lost balls and take a photo for posterity before heading home for a hot meal. The picture shows Rupert Murray, Nick Jennings, Joe Selby and Andrew Snell.
At the half-way point after 9 wind-lashed and waterlogged holes only 1 point separated Snell, Selby, Murray and Jennings. But then Murray upped his game and pulled ahead ,shooting 4 over par on the back nine to claim a very good victory by a 4 point margin and present himself with the trophy. (Unfortunately, in an almost empty Club House, very few people were there to witness it!
