The 2021 Season Starts - Saturday 17 April
The 2021 season kicked of in great style on Saturday 17 April with the Vice Presidents' match enjoying gloriously sunny weather . We had over 30 members turn out for this the inaugural game of the season , with three teams skippered by John Grinstead, Ashley Major and James Parton, each team batting for 20 overs. Andy Bazen took the first wicket of the year. Play paused when the bell was rung, to observe a minute's silence at 3pm as a mark of respect for the late Duke of Edinburgh, a great cricket lover, with the FPCC flag at half-mast.
Bar manager Dave Roberts had the bar working in accordance with the latest Covid-19 hospitality, with the motto - "Sign-in, Sanitise, Sit and order" and drinkers were confined to their seats. During the spring we invested in four new picnic tables so there was plenty of room for everyone and plenty of social distancing. The match was quite close with Ashley's team emerging victors with a score of 138, John Grinstead's second with 136 and James Parton's with 124. Thanks to Nick Jennings for the pictures.
